What is Chhath? छठ पर्व के हो?
Chhath is a four-day festival of gratitude to the Sun god and Chhathi Maiya, held especially dear by families from Nepal’s Terai and the Mithila region. Devotees keep a rigorous fast and offer arghya to the setting and then the rising sun while standing in water, with baskets of thekuwa and fruit prepared at home. In Germany the diaspora recreates the ghats at local lakes and riverbanks, gathering at the water’s edge for the Sandhya Arghya evening.
