About this item
A 70% cashmere, 30% silk shawl from Kathmandu — the blend, and the reason to buy this one rather than a cheaper thing with the same word on the label.
Pure cashmere is warmer and softer and it pills; pure silk has the shine and none of the warmth. The 70/30 blend keeps the sheen, drapes properly instead of hanging like a blanket, and survives being worn every day of a winter. It is the standard the Kathmandu weavers settled on for a reason.
What it is not: pashmina in the strict sense of hand-spun mountain-goat undercoat, which costs several times this and which I do not stock. I would rather tell you that than let the word do work it should not.
Dry clean, or a careful cold hand wash with hair shampoo and absolutely no wringing. Dry flat.
