About this item
Six coasters made of hand-rolled felt balls, wet-felted and dyed in Kathmandu and then stitched together into a disc.
They survive a hot cup, which is more than most attractive coasters manage, and wool has the useful property of absorbing the ring of condensation rather than letting it run onto the table.
The wool is imported New Zealand merino, not Nepali sheep wool — said plainly because people ask, and because merino is what makes them soft rather than scratchy. The making is entirely Nepali; the fibre is not.
Spot clean only. Wool felt in a washing machine becomes a smaller, harder object.
