About this item
A5, unlined, hand-stitched, with the deckle edges left on.
Lokta paper is made from the bark of the Himalayan Daphne, which regrows from the stump — the plant is not killed to make it, and a stand can be cut again every few years. The bark is boiled, beaten and poured onto a frame by hand, which is why sheets vary in thickness and why the edges are ragged. That is the paper, not a defect.
It takes fountain pen ink without bleeding through, which surprises people who expect handmade paper to behave like blotting paper. Pencil and rollerball are fine too. Very wet brush work is not.
Hand-stitched binding, so it opens flat and stays open.
