About this item
Juju dhau means king of yoghurts, and Bhaktapur has been making it in clay for long enough that the pot is part of the recipe rather than packaging.
Buffalo milk, boiled down with a little sugar, set warm in an unglazed clay pot and left alone. The clay draws moisture out through its own walls, which is why the result is thick enough to hold a spoon upright and slightly sweet without anything being stirred in. It cannot be done properly in plastic, which is why nobody does.
400ml. Eat it cold and plain, or with sel roti. Bring the pot back next time and take a euro off — the pots are made by hand and it is a waste to throw one away.
Contains milk. Set fresh, so eat it within three or four days.
