About this item
A Newar sweet that surprises people, because it is barely sweet and it is hard.
Wheat flour, ghee and a light glaze, shaped and baked into something between a biscuit and a bread. On its own it is dry and quiet. Broken into hot milk tea it goes soft at the edges and turns into the thing it was designed to be — which is how it is eaten at weddings and at Newar feasts, and how you should try it first.
250g keeps for a couple of weeks in a tin, which for anything on this page is a long time.
Contains wheat, ghee (milk) and sugar. Made in a kitchen that also handles sesame and nuts.
