The jar most families come back for, and the reason is arithmetic: it is noticeably cheaper per gram than the 100g and it lasts a household that cooks dal most nights about half a year.
Same sack, same fire, same picking. Buy this one if you already know you like it, or if you cook for more than two people — a pod goes into dal, two or three into a buff or mutton curry with the onions, one into the whole-spice bloom for a biryani.
Store it whole and closed. Ground cardamom is convenient and it fades; whole pods are the reason this is worth carrying from Taplejung at all.
