About this item
Chiura is rice that has been parboiled, flattened and dried, and it is the base of half of Nepali snacking — with dahi and sugar in the morning, fried with peanuts and chilli for khaja, on the plate at Dashain tika beside the meat. This is the thin type, which crisps properly in hot oil and softens in seconds under yoghurt. A kilo is a lot of chiura; it keeps for months in a jar with the lid on, and it is the thing people run out of at eight on a Sunday morning.
