About this item
This is the tea that gets boiled, not brewed: strong CTC granules from the Ilam gardens in the east, for milk chiya in the morning and again at four. A teaspoon per cup into the water with a crushed cardamom and a slice of ginger, boil, add the milk, boil again until it climbs the pan, then the sugar. It is not the orthodox leaf tea that the same hills also make for export — that is another shop's business; this is the one every kitchen in Nepal actually has on the shelf. Two hundred and fifty grams is a month for a two-cup household.
